MJ is a leader with years of experience developing business strategy and driving wine and beverage alcohol industry innovation. She grew up in Sonoma, went to high school in Napa, so all her first jobs were in wine–from vineyard to bottling line to the tasting room. After graduate school, she left to explore new places and honed her management expertise via key positions including Director of Product Development for Westin Hotels & Resorts, Vice President Customer Marketing nationally for AT&T Wireless and CMO for Gateway Computers. Â
She returned to California wine country to raise her family and has since partnered with many wine & spirits businesses to transform their consumer sales & marketing strategies and business operations. She founded Customer Vineyard in 2015 to help the wine industry and beverage alcohol businesses better leverage consumer data—in other words translate detailed customer insights into profitable action. MJ holds a BA degree from Santa Clara University and a JD from UC Davis School of Law. Â
Throughout her career, Sonyia has played a significant role in the wine industry, leading sales and marketing efforts for a variety of esteemed organizations. Her extensive experience includes driving initiatives for Constellation Wines, Terlato Wine Group and Visit Napa Valley. Beyond her roles in these companies, Sonyia has operated her own consulting business, developing strategies for clients such as Iron Horse, Bonny Doon, Highway 12, VinoPro and many others.Â

Sonyia joined the team at Trinitas Cellars as the General Manager in June,2019, bringing with her over two decades of experience in wine sales. Sonyia is known as a prime thought leader and amplifier in identifying market trends, innovative approaches in the wine industry, which include wine sales programs and consumer targeting, acquisition and retention. Her programs are supported by effective and thorough marketing tactics to support long-term growth and profitability for the company and brand’s essential messaging. Â
Janiene got her start in the wine industry in 2000 as a warehouse Receiving Clerk at Niebaum-Coppola Estate Winery while pursuing associate degrees in Fine Art and Social and Behavioral Science. She moved into a part-time Merchandising Assistant role while earning her Art History degree from UC Berkely, returning full-time upon graduation. She continued advancing and eventually oversaw Merchandise operations, sourcing retail and décor items for Francis Ford Coppola Winery, Rubicon Estate and Francis Coppola’s resort properties. Over time, Janiene took on oversight of eCommerce and fulfillment, resort operations in Belize, Guatemala and Italy, in-house Creative services, Café Zoetrope and Zoetrope All-Story Magazine. Janiene spent her last three years at The Family Coppola, overseeing hospitality, restaurant, club and eCommerce operations. In 2021 she joined the Bunch at Silver Oak as Vice President of Customer Experience where she oversees tasting rooms, private events, membership, merchandising, customer care and fulfillment and serves as a member of the management team focused on strategy, company culture and employee engagement. She lives in Napa with her husband, Chad, daughters Willa and Lana and the family’s Siberian husky, Balto.
Rob McMillan is one of the top wine business analysts in the United States and the author of Silicon Valley Bank’s highly regarded annual State of the Wine Industry Report. With decades of experience researching the wine business, his views are sought after and trusted by winery owners, journalists, entrepreneurs and investors. He is a prominent speaker domestically and internationally and is extensively quoted in national, regional and trade press. He has been named multiple times as one of the Top 50 Most Influential People in the US wine industry. 
 
Rob’s banking career has spanned 35-plus years — more than 25 with Silicon Valley Bank. In that time, he has held positions of increasing responsibility, including division manager of the Wine Group, executive manager of the bank’s Commercial Division and several years as a member of Silicon Valley Bank’s Managing Committee. He is currently responsible for establishing new winery relationships and offers private management presentations and strategic consulting to the bank’s clients across the portfolio. 
 
Rob received a bachelor’s degree in finance/economics from Sacramento State University and an MBA from Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business. He has served on boards in diverse industries and continues to be an advisor to wineries and industry associations across the wine business. 
 
Rob is a father of two. He enjoys the outdoors, travel and golf and takes any opportunity to play percussion and drums in live settings.
