Activities

We have lined up a variety of activities for you to enjoy that immerse you in the Southern California lifestyle - including unique ways to explore the outdoors and experience the environment around you. Attendees, spouses, and children are all encouraged to participate, each is able to sign up for one activity. Space is limited, pre-registration is required, and we are unable to accommodate changes on-site.

Dolphin & Whale Safari

A 3 hour experience: 15 minute shuttle ride each way, 2.5 hour boat tour.  All ages.

The Dolphin & Whale Safari is a private catamaran charter offering the best dolphin and whale watching  in Southern California departing from nearby Dana Point Harbor. The view from the boat includes scenic coastline and incredible year-round wildlife.

The catamaran exclusively features two Eye-to-Eye Underwater Viewing Pods (requires steps to access) so guests feel what it’s like to swim with the dolphins and whales underwater without getting wet. The boat also offers three Eye-Spy Dolphin Tram Nets, a micro-museum of whale and dolphin artifacts, plus a large, semi-covered cabin area and cockpit with ample cushioned seating and two bathrooms.

This adventure is a 15 minute shuttle ride from the resort.

Electric Bike Tour

A 90-120 minute experience: 10 mile ride. Ages 16+.

Closed-toe shoes required. Cove to cove, and approximately 10-miles, this e-bike ride is one that does not disappoint. It is a unique and exciting adventure, offering guests a chance to cruise through hidden back roads and trails that take them to breathtaking vistas of Dana Point’s coves and southern cities. Riders will descend a hill to the city’s quaint harbor where they will learn the history of the area dating back to its native tribes, its colonial period of trading, and up to the modern-day changes that brought about the harbor.

This is a loop that begins and ends at the resort.

Hike to Dana Point Headlands

A 2 hour experience: 2 hours hiking 3.7 miles. Child-friendly, though recommended ages 10+ due to distance & afternoon heat.

Closed-toe shoes required. Among the highlights of this picturesque hike are Salt Creek Beach, Dana Point Harbor, and the Monarch Beach Golf course. There is a sandy trail leading out to the very tip of the Dana Point Headlands offering epic views in 270 degrees! Enjoy the coastal scenery of Salt Creek beach and learn the history of Dana Point.

This is a loop that begins and ends at the resort.

Kayaking

A 2.5 hour experience: 30 minute shuttle ride each way, 90 minutes kayaking. Ages 8+.

Kayaking is a great activity for everyone. Following a brief orientation, guides launch the guests into the water of Newport Beach’s Back Bay. The views from the water are incredible! Guests can be on their own or take advantage of the instructor who will provide an amazing and informational experience.

This adventure is a 30 minute shuttle ride from the resort.

Keynote Speaker

Dan Harris

#1 New York Times Best-Selling Author and Award-Winning Former ABC News Anchor

Dan Harris is a former co-anchor for the weekend edition of Good Morning America on ABC News, as well as a former correspondent for such broadcasts as Nightline and World News Tonight. He is also the author of 10% Happier, a #1 New York Times best-selling book about a fidgety, skeptical news anchor who stumbles upon meditation. This ancient practice—too long associated exclusively with hippies and robed gurus—has been shown by modern science to boost resilience focus, creativity, emotional intelligence, and overall mental and physical health. With meditation and mindfulness now being embraced by executives, athletes, educators and entertainers, Harris has become a leading voice for pushing for the practice into the mainstream, using plain English and dry humor. He has spoken in front of a variety of audiences—corporations, health and wellness organizations, and schools and universities.

In 10% Happier, Harris tells his story as only a reporter can: through deep research, tough questions, and a healthy dose of irony. The book is part investigation and part immersive journalism: one man’s accidental quest to boost his happiness quotient without losing his professional drive. After learning about research that suggests meditation can do everything from lower your blood pressure to essentially rewire your brain, Harris takes readers on a ride from the outer reaches of neuroscience to the inner sanctum of network news to the bizarre fringes of America’s spiritual scene, and leaves them with a takeaway that could actually change their lives.

The app co-founded by Harris—called 10% Happier: Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics—mixes the irreverence of the book with simple, practical, down-to-earth instructions. Users get short, daily videos, in which he discusses the practice with some of the world’s greatest teachers. The app also comes with a personal coach, who can answer questions and keep users accountable.

10% Happier is also available in podcast form, and features in-depth conversations about meditation and happiness with celebrities, doctors, scholars, and other icons, including the Dalai Lama. Harris’ latest book, Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics, was released in December 2018 and immediately found its way onto the best-seller list.

Harris has received Murrow and Emmy awards for his reporting. Prior to joining ABC, he was in local news in Boston and Maine.

Harris grew up outside of Boston and currently lives with his wife, Bianca, and their son, Alexander, in New York City.
