For many high-growth enterprises, there's nowhere better to start to grow than the United Kingdom, and nowhere better to expand and raise later-stage funding than the United States. The US offers the promise of massive commercial opportunities and plentiful venture and growth capital. However, doing business and raising money in an unfamiliar, highly-competitive environment requires thoughtful advance planning and clinical execution.

In this facilitated Q&A session, we discussed best practices for navigating the logistical aspects of launching and operating a UK business in the states, and setting and meeting expectations for US later-stage funding.

The discussion was moderated by SVB's Bailey Morrow and featured Daniel Glazer, who leads the US Expansion group at Silicon Valley headquartered Wilson Sonsini and Allyson Stewart-Allen, author of Working with Americans & CEO of International Marketing Partners Ltd.

Bailey has been with SVB for 10 years, 8 of which were in San Francisco, California before joining the London Office. She began her SVB career working on the Venture Capital Relationship Management team and then transitioned to the Accelerator team working with Series A companies.
