Jonathan Norris is a managing director for business development in SVB's Healthcare practice. Norris oversees business development efforts for banking and lending opportunities as well as spearheading strategic relationships with many healthcare venture capital firms. He also helps SVB Capital through sourcing and advising on limited partnership allocations.
In addition, he speaks at major investor and industry conferences and authors widely cited analyses of healthcare venture capital trends. Norris has more than nineteen years of banking experience working with healthcare companies and venture capital firms.
Norris earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of California, Riverside and a juris doctorate from Santa Clara University.
Julie leads investments and company formation efforts in biopharma and digital health companies that tangibly improve patient care. Since joining Canaan in 2013, Julie has incubated, financed and supported investments in multiple new biopharmaceutical companies including Day One Biopharmaceuticals (DAWN) where she until recently acted as CEO, Nocion, Synthekine, Protagonist (PTGX), Cellular Research (Acquired by Becton Dickinson), Dermira (DERM), Labrys Biologics, CytomX (CTMX), Unchained Labs, Chrono Therapeutics, Genome Medical, Glooko, Vineti and Truveris.
Prior to joining Canaan, Julie worked at Genentech bringing new oncology products to market in roles spanning business development, cross functional management and commercial. Julie served on the board of the Biden Cancer Initiative and co-chaired the IT advisory board for Planned Parenthood Northern California. She holds an M.B.A. from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, a M.Phil. from Cambridge University in BioScience Enterprise and a B.S. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University.
Chris is the head of Northwest & Northeast Healthtech & Medical Devices, specializing in healthcare IT and device companies. Having been with SVB since 2006, Chris was previously a member of a Growth-Stage Team focused on Software companies in the San Francisco Bay Area with annualized revenue between $5-150 million. Chris has also served as member of the Corporate Finance group which focused on companies generating $150 million and above in annual revenues. Chris also had a brief stint in the semiconductor testing equipment industry before moving to banking.
Chris earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in finance from Sonoma State University.
Anjalee Khemlani is an award-winning journalist and senior reporter at Yahoo! Finance. Her role includes live coverage and published reports of all things health care including digital health, insurance, health services and life sciences. Prior to Yahoo! Finance, Khemlani worked for a variety of local and international news outlets covering breaking news, health care, business and politics.
Anjalee has a breadth of media experience, including print, digital, and broadcast spanning local and international coverage. She has been a regular moderator and panelist at events and conferences since 2015, and is endorsed for her stage presence, enthusiasm and ability to keep audiences - large and intimate - awake and engaged. She regularly interviews C-suite executives, business leaders and politicians.
