Did you know that in 1994 SVB was the first financial institution to develop a dedicated Wine Division - a team of banking professionals with deep knowledge and expertise in the industry? SVB boasts a portfolio of over 400 winery and vineyard clients, including numerous wineries in Willamette, Columbia, and Walla Walla Valley, and has one of the largest wine banking practices in the country.
Â
Please join us and SVB's Wine Relationship Ambassador, Greg Gregory, as we take you on a journey through some of our favorite wines available and share more about SVB's wine group.
Â
Born and raised in Tampa Bay, FL, Greg guided his family wholesale roofing distribution company from 5 million to 220 million in revenue in a little over 10 years turning it into the second largest in the state. Growing up in a family of teetotalers however, and a non-wine drinker himself, the wine industry is the last place he envisioned a second career. His epiphany occurred in 1998 and during the next 10 years his passion for wine grew exponentially, amassing a cellar totaling almost 20,000 bottles of the greatest wines in the world. I guess you could say wine was, and still is, his obsession.
Since moving to Napa Valley in 2009 he’s been involved with two rare wine merchants and held directorship roles at Staglin Family Vineyard and BRAND Napa Valley. Greg’s unusual combination of perspectives as a collector, retailer and producer, and his circle of friends derived from those forays fit perfectly with the efforts of the Silicon Valley Bank’s Wine Division in building new relationships, cementing existing ones and connecting winery owners and winemakers to SVB and First Citizens extended network of innovators and entrepreneurs.
