Dan is the head of the national Climate Technology and Sustainability practice. He and his team manage hundreds of client relationships in low carbon energy, food, agriculture and transportation technologies. He is experienced in many aspects of early stage, growth, middle market, corporate and project financing.
Prior to joining SVB in 2007, Dan was focused on corporate and asset finance at commercial banks and non-bank finance companies. He has experience in structured debt, large ticket leasing, partnering, syndications and public accounting.
Shayle Kann is a Partner at Energy Impact Partners, a $3 billion+ venture capital firm backed by a coalition of the world’s largest energy and industrial companies. He leads EIP's Frontier Fund, dedicated to investing in revolutionary technologies to enable deep decarbonization.
Shayle is also a Non-Resident Fellow at the Columbia University Center on Global Energy Policy, a member of the NYSERDA Investor Advisory Board, a member of the PRIME Impact Fund Investor Advisory Council, and host of the popular climate tech podcast Catalyst.
Previously, Shayle built and ran GTM Research, the market intelligence arm of Greentech Media, through and beyond GTM's successful 2016 acquisition by Verisk Analytics (NASDAQ: VRSK). Prior to GTM, Shayle was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar, researching renewable energy project finance in Australia. He also worked at Conservation Services Group (acquired by ClearResult) and the California Public Utilities Commission.
Emily is a Partner at The Westly Group, a venture fund in Menlo Park that has been investing for fifteen years across energy, mobility, industrial tech, buildings and cybersecurity. At The Westly Group, Emily has led investments in companies including Woltair, Enpal, and Circulor. Prior to joining The Westly Group, Emily Fritze was Director at Powerhouse Ventures, an energy and mobility fund in Oakland, where she helped conceive and raise Powerhouse’s seed fund and managed Powerhouse’s innovation firm. Prior to Powerhouse, Emily served as Senior Director in the Obama White House where she managed domestic energy and climate initiatives.
Emily has also served as Chief of Staff and Special Advisor at the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Energy (ARPA-E), in policy roles to U.S. Secretary of Energy, Ernest Moniz, at the U.S. Department of Energy, and in the U.S. House of Representatives for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Emily received her undergraduate degree in Political Science at the University of Arizona.
Alan is a reporter for Climate Deals, the daily newsletter from Axios Pro covering investment activity in low-carbon energy and climate-tech. He also spearheads a Saturday deep-dive on electric vehicles, "Climate Wheels."
