Roger Ehrenberg is the founder and Managing Partner of IA Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm based in New York City. IA is managing $475M across four funds, and is currently investing out of its $160M fourth fund. Roger previously was an active angel investor through IA Capital Partners, a seed-stage investment firm focused on digital media and financial technology. Earlier in his career, Roger served as CEO of DB Advisors, was Global co-head of Deutsche Bank’s Strategic Equity Transactions Group, and was an investment banker at Citibank in derivatives, capital structuring and Mergers & Acquisitions.
Roger currently sits on the Boards of Ethyca, Gospel Technology, Mighty, Octane and TransferWise, and until recently was lead investor in and Board Member of The Trade Desk (NASDAQ: TTD) and among the first investors in Datadog (NASDAQ: DDOG). He is also a Board observer of MemSQL, Robin Healthcare and Signifyd. Formerly, he served on the boards of Buddy Media (sold to Salesforce for $800M), Recorded Future (sold to Insight Ventures for $780M) and Simple Finance (sold to BBVA for $120M). Roger sits on the External Advisory Board of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, as well as serving as a member of the Data & Society Council of the Data Science Institute at Columbia University.
Roger holds an MBA in Finance, Accounting and Management from Columbia Business School and a BBA in Finance, Economics and Organizational Psychology from the University of Michigan. Eric Paley is a Partner at Founder Collective, a seed-stage venture capital fund. Eric led Founder Collective's investments into numerous companies including Uber, Cruise Automation, Makerbot, Embark, Airtable, Integral Ad Science, and The TradeDesk (Nasdaq: TTD). Previously, Eric founded Brontes Technologies, a 3D imaging company, which was acquired by 3M. Eric has been named to the Forbes Midas List of top venture capitalists for the past four years, and in 2018 and 2019 was also the top-ranked seed investor on the list. Eric has served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Harvard Business School and is a frequent contributor to Techcrunch.
Amanda Outerbridge joined HarbourVest’s primary partnership team in Boston in 2000 and focuses on US partnership investments. She transferred to the London office in 2007, where she evaluated and monitored European venture capital and buyout partnership investments. She also spent two years in HarbourVest’s Hong Kong office, where she concentrated on partnership investments in Asia Pacific and emerging markets. Her previous experience includes internships with XL Capital Ltd and the Bank of Bermuda. She received a BS (summa cum laude) in Business Administration from Babson College in 2000.
Mel has been investing in private equity for over 20 years and is also a seasoned entrepreneur.
Before co-founding TrueBridge with long-time friend Edwin Poston, Mel co-founded UNC Management Company (UNCMC), where he worked closely with the President/CIO to manage over $2 billion of endowment capital for the University of North Carolina, along with other North Carolina-based institutions. As part of the senior management team, Mel had primary portfolio management responsibility for all illiquid asset classes, including UNCMC’s venture portfolio. During his time at UNCMC, Mel formed strong ties with some of the industry’s top-performing managers, which he has continued to develop at TrueBridge.
Prior to UNCMC, Mel helped co-found two venture-backed companies. He also spent time as an entrepreneur-in-residence with Commonwealth Capital Ventures in Boston.
Throughout his career, Mel has served on the advisory boards of several private capital partnerships. He has also spoken at a number of global private equity conferences and appears frequently as a guest lecturer at UNC and Duke University. In 2012, he was named an Honorary Kauffman Fellow by the Center for Venture Education, in appreciation of TrueBridge’s contribution and commitment to the Kauffman Fellows Program.
Early in his post-graduate career, Mel worked as a manager with both the General Electric Capital Company and the General Electric Corporate Audit Staff.
Mel received his MBA from Harvard University and his BA with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Jim has been working in the start-up ecosystem in Silicon Valley for over 20 years and has been with Silicon Valley Bank since 2012. As Head of the Emerging Manager Practice at SVB, Jim leads a team that provides general partners with tailored services and strategic guidance-from fundraising to fund operations, to portfolio company support and creative liquidity solutions. Prior to joining SVB, Jim co-founded Selby Venture Partners, a seed and early stage focused VC firm with over $130M in management from a diversified group of Limited Partners, including the US Government. In addition to having the privilege of working with several amazing founders throughout his career, Jim is proud to have been an early investor in Pandora (NYSE:P), BigFix (Acq by IBM for $400M), Coremetrics (Acq by IBM) and Active Semiconductor, Inc.
Jim is a native Californian who serves on the Leavey School of Business Advisory Board at Santa Clara University. Jim holds an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University, where he was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus in 2007, and a B.S. in Finance from Santa Clara University.
I am an investor and writer based out of Silicon Valley. I created and invest out of a small fund called Haystack, which is proud to be an early investor in over 70 companies, including Instacart, DoorDash, Hired, Hashicorp, Giphy, Envoy, OpenDoor, eShares, Airmap, Clara Labs, Wag Walking, and Managed By Q (see full portfolio here). I am also Venture Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, was selected to the “Midas Brink List 2017” by Forbes, and am proud to serve on the Advisory Boards of StrictlyVC and The Alpha Network.
Will is a Partner at Slow Ventures, a early stage venture capital fund with offices in San Francisco and Boston. In addition to making investments across sectors at the seed stage, he also leads their later stage investing and helps manage the firm’s operations.
Prior to Slow, Will was a Managing Director at Industry Ventures.
Will is graduate of the University of California, Berkeley where he majored in Political Science and captained the Water Polo team.
