Details

SVB Tech Gives Back is going virtual!

Tech Gives Back is an annual day of community service that brings together SVB employees, clients and partners from around the world to give back to the communities in which we live, work and call home. In years past, it has been a chance to see & connect with each other in person, all the while employing a little elbow grease. However, this year we have adapted in the best way and will be holding virtual volunteering events around the world where you can volunteer ANYTIME, ANYWHERE and with ANYONE!

With the COVID-19 pandemic and recent events around equity and social justice rapidly and profoundly affecting communities around the world, service is needed now more than ever.

This year, Tech Gives Back's volunteering efforts will center around 3 pillars of service:

Shelter

Food Security

Access, Equity & Social Justice

We invite SVB employees, clients and partners to join us in making a difference for communities in need.

REGISTER | VOLUNTEER | SPONSOR | DONATE | GIVE BACK

Our 2020 Mission: Providing access is part of SVB’s DNA, it is our past, present, and future. Through our Tech Gives Back engagement, we will use this opportunity to meet members of the community where they are and respond. By providing the most basic needs in addressing shelter, food security and equity issues, together we will carry this essential work forward, advance opportunities, and open doors for those who do not otherwise have access.

Registration is required to participate & volunteer in SVB Tech Gives Back 2020.

DEADLINE TO REGISTER EXTENDED: Monday, September 28 @ Midnight PDT.

Pre-registration for attendees and guests is required. Registrations are not transferrable.

Belle Haven School - Get Active Challenge

With the onset of COVID-19, Belle Haven wants to ensure that students remain safe and healthy and have opted for all students to start the year off with distance learning. This year presents many changes for students, including how they interact in their virtual classrooms, try their best to learn from home, and remain active and healthy without their usual physical education and recess activities. Students currently receive ONLY ONE physical education class a week, but volunteers can help students move and groove while at home to stay healthy and get them up off their seats while still learning.

Belle Haven School is also a nonprofit beneficiary of our TGB Fit & Fundraise Challenge!

Join today and help unlock large donations for B.H. and other global nonprofits through logging your physical activity!

  • VIRTUAL VOLUNTEER ACTIVITY: Volunteers will create videos of simple and dynamic exercises and warm-up routines that students can follow along at home.

Volunteers will be led by a HandsOn Bay Area Project Leader in a mandatory instructional session to create their own short video of an exercise or warm-up routine. No experience necessary, but we ask that you come with energy, spirit, and channeling your favorite workout instructor!

Hunger Free America

Hunger Free America is a nonpartisan, national nonprofit group working to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food. We are both a direct service and advocacy organization — with each component strengthening the other. As a direct service provider, we assist low-income families obtain aid from government programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — formerly called the Food Stamp program — and the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program so that people struggling to pay their bills have access to nutritious food. Because our staff works daily on the front lines of hunger, and because we empower low-income people to speak out on their own behalf, that makes us one of the nation's most effective advocates for improved economic and public policies.

  • Brand Assessment Sessions: These are one-hour long consultations focused on helping an entrepreneur better position their product or service to attract customers during this difficult time. Volunteers will use worksheets (provided pre-event) to gather feedback for the entrepreneur on both their brand and overall messaging tactics as represented on social media and their website. The brand feedback will focus on its consistency, look and feel, as well as how the business can align the brand’s voice better given its target audience. This would be a good fit for volunteers who can provide more general business consulting, with a marketing focus.

  • Website Audit Session: This one-hour long consultation focuses on helping an entrepreneur better position their product or service to attract customers during this difficult time. Given that the majority of activity and sales are moving online, entrepreneurs need help ensuring their websites are user-friendly and appealing to their target audience. These projects are designed to provide feedback on the layout, functionality, visual design, content and other features to improve the overall website experience. This would be a good fit for volunteers with expertise in tech or UX/UI.

  • Sales Optimization Session: This one-hour long consultation focuses on helping an entrepreneur better position their product or service to attract customers during this difficult time. Many of our entrepreneurs’ existing business models may not be set up to function without in-person interactions. In order to generate sales and keep their businesses operating, they are now challenged with adapting and innovating their existing offering to meet current needs. These projects focus on identifying new sales and distribution channels to help entrepreneurs continue staying in business during and after this crisis. This would be a good fit for volunteers with expertise in sales.
